And the winners are.......HS Cupcake Battle 2001
Well the regionals were one incredible time! We had 94 student competitors, from 25 Central Texas High Schools and a few schools from as far away as Cy-Fair in Houston and San Antonio. Some of the judges ate over 10# of buttercream each I am afraid.
Seven finalist will move on to the finals March 26th, 2011 to be named Best High School Baker at the Internationl Culinary School at the Art Institute - Austin.

Taste of Austin - Baking a Difference - HS Cupcake Battle preview
Last night eight high schools from the Central Texas High School Culinary Arts Consortium got together to promote their upcoming Cupcake Battle tomorrow and sold a variety of scrumptious cupcakes featuring a cupcake bar and all at the annual Taste of Austin 2011 sponsored by the Greater Austin Restaurant Association. Thank you - Leander H.S., Round Rock H.S., Hutto H.S., John B. Connally H.S., Travis H.S., and Cedar Ridge H.S..

Welcome!
The idea for a local Cupcake Batle came to Chef Mike who is the Culinary Arts Instructor at Connally High School.
"I was watching the Food Network show with my daughter and thought how much fun that would be for the Culinary Arts Program students. We had great success with our first Cupcake Fundraiser at Connally High School in the fall of 2010 and I thought we could try to turn up the heat on them a little."
The students jumped at the idea! After a lot of hard work pulling together the event including all the wonderful sponsors (see list at right!!) and judges (also see list at right!), we are thrilled to be announcing our 1st Annual High School Cupcake Battle!
